Mt. Manaslu ExpeditionWorld`s Eighth Highest Mountain - Nepal


Manaslu (also known as Kutang) is 8.163 metres high and is eighth highest mountain in the world. It is located in mountains Mansiri Himal, part of Nepalese Himalaya.

Name Manaslu is translated as „Mountain of the Spirit“ and come from Sanskrit word Manasa.

Manaslu is the highest peak in the Gorkha district and is located about forty miles east of 8000er mountain Annapurna. There are several glaciers on mountain with names Manaslu, Pungen a Thulagi.

The top of the mountain was first reached by the Japanese mountaineer Toshio Imanishi and Nepali sherpa Gyalzen Norbu, members of the Japanese expedition.
